BLUE UMBRELLA PRIVACY STATEMENT
This Privacy Statement applies to bluedd.com (“Web Site”) and Blue Umbrella’s practices for handling personal information provided to Blue Umbrella over the Internet by the general public using the Web Site. This Privacy Statement also covers personal information provided by Blue Umbrella’s clients, and their job applicants and employees (as well as other individuals who have given their written authorization for Blue Umbrella’s clients to conduct a background investigation on them), using Blue Umbrella’s online background screening solution that is accessible only through an access-restricted portion of the Web Site. Blue Umbrella will collect, store, and use personally identifiable information only in compliance with applicable law.

This Privacy Statement also describes the choices available to you regarding the use of, your access to, and how to update and correct your personal information. Collection of Information You Provide
When you browse the Web Site, you do so anonymously. Blue Umbrella collects personally identifiable information from you only if you choose to provide this information to us. Based on the nature of your transaction with us, the types of personal information that may be collected about you through the Web Site include: (a) contact and identifying information (e.g., name, address, e-mail address, phone and fax numbers, employer(s), job title(s)) in connection with your expression of interest in receiving information about, or your registering for, Blue Umbrella products or services, newsletters and conferences; (b) your resume information and employment application information in response to Blue Umbrella job openings; and (c) any other personal information that you may voluntarily provide to us in an online form or through an e-mail.
Access to certain Blue Umbrella web pages and online services is not available to the general public and requires a login code and password provided by Blue Umbrella. Those web pages, and the information downloadable to and from those pages, are made available only to clients of Blue Umbrella. On these web pages, Blue Umbrella collects only information that the user voluntarily shares with Blue Umbrella.
If you use the Web Site to open an account with Blue Umbrella, we collect the information requested on our account application form, including contact information and financial information (such as credit card number or billing information). This information is used for internal purposes, such as account establishment, billing, fulfillment of orders and customer service.
Use of Information You Provide
When your personal information is collected on Blue Umbrella’s Web Site, Blue Umbrella will use it only for the business transaction for which it was collected, unless you consent to a different use. We will not release your personal information to third parties except as necessary for us to process your transaction.
By way of example, Blue Umbrella may use personal information submitted in an account application to set up and maintain your account. Blue Umbrella also may use the personal information you provide to answer your questions and inquiries, to support Blue Umbrella’s own recruitment activities in response to your inquiries into Blue Umbrella’s job postings, and to provide newsletters and other information (if any) that you have requested.
If you have provided your personal information over the Web Site in connection with a background screening investigation ordered by Blue Umbrella’s client, Blue Umbrella may use your personal information to perform your background screening investigation for that client. Blue Umbrella will not use your information to conduct a background screening investigation and create a background screening report unless Blue Umbrella’s client has provided a certification required by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”) and any other applicable law. In this certification, Blue Umbrella’s client certifies to Blue Umbrella that it (a) has a legally permissible purpose for ordering the background screening investigation and report and, (b) has, to the extent required by applicable law, obtained your informed consent to conduct the background screening investigation.
Information Sharing and Disclosure
We will share your personal information with third parties only in the ways that are described in this Privacy Statement. Blue Umbrella does not sell or rent personal information to third parties.
Blue Umbrella may disclose personal information as necessary or appropriate in connection with any of the purposes for which we use personal information as described above in “Use of Information You Provide.”
When Blue Umbrella conducts a background screening investigation about you, Blue Umbrella may disclose information that you submit through the Web Site to the Blue Umbrella client that ordered a background screening investigation on you. Blue Umbrella also may disclose your information to certain third parties as necessary to conduct the background screening investigation (such as educational institutions, prior employers, courts, law enforcement agencies and other persons or entities that may provide or verify information about you), as well as to a third-party representative or subcontractor authorized by Blue Umbrella to assist in the background screening investigation. Blue Umbrella transfers to these representatives and subcontractors only the personal information they need to deliver to Blue Umbrella (for the benefit of Blue Umbrella’s client) the requested product or service. Blue Umbrella prohibits these third parties from using that information for any other purpose. Blue Umbrella requires that these parties maintain commercially reasonable measures to protect the confidentiality of your information.
Blue Umbrella also may disclose your personal information and any other additional information available to Blue Umbrella for any of the following purposes:
- to respond to or defend against subpoenas, court orders, or other legal process;
- to establish or exercise Blue Umbrella’s legal rights;
- to otherwise comply with applicable law; or
- to any other third party with your prior consent to do so.
If Blue Umbrella is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of all or a portion of its assets, you will be notified via e-mail and/or a prominent notice on our Web Site of any change in ownership or uses of your personal information, as well as any choices you may have regarding your personal information.
Personal Information Disclosure
Personal information submitted to Blue Umbrella for a background screening investigation may at times be transferred to an overseas receiver in order to perform the background screening investigation specifically when Blue Umbrella is attempting to verify your credentials or professional history during times you were in another country outside of the United States. All personal information will be transmitted and stored in a secure manner in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Statement.
Blue Umbrella’s Web Site may use tracking technologies such as cookies, scripts and tags to analyze trends, to administer the Web Site, to track users’ movements around the Web Site and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole.
As is true of most web sites, Blue Umbrella gathers certain information automatically and stores it in log files. This information includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp and clickstream data. We do not link this automatically-collected data to personal information.
Security and Protection of Your Information
Blue Umbrella is committed to protecting the personal information that Blue Umbrella receives about individuals. However, no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. While we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information, we utilize a combination of online and offline security technologies, procedures and organizational measures to help safeguard personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction.
We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to guard the personal information that you provide to Blue Umbrella. We employ Secure Socket Layer (SSL) data encryption when data is transmitted over the Internet to our Web Site. In addition, we have security protocols and measures in place to protect the personal information we maintain about you from unauthorized access or alteration. Specifically, we have installed firewall, physical security and technological security measures, and encryption of certain information. Strong password protection protocols are used on our computers, and employees are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy policies. The servers used to store consumer information are maintained in a secure environment with appropriate security measures.

Your Ability to Review or Modify Personal Information or Unsubscribe from Notices.
If you have provided your personal information (such as zip code, phone, e-mail or postal address) to Blue Umbrella while browsing Blue Umbrella’s publicly accessible Web Site, and wish to update such personal information (if any) that you have provided us, you may correct, update, amend or delete it by contacting us by e-mail, telephone or postal mail at the contact information listed below. Also, if no longer desire our newsletters or similar marketing services, you may e-mail us at email@example.com. We will respond to your request within seven days. Blue Umbrella will retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you our marketing services. We will retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes or enforce our agreements.
Policy Regarding Children
Blue Umbrella does not offer services to children under the age of 16, and this Web Site is not directed to or intended for use by children under the age of 16. Blue Umbrella does not intend to collect information about children under the age of 16 through the Web Site.
